The Kelsang Namtso Fund was established to support and assist the young Tibetan Refugees seen in the documentary in concrete, practical ways to empower them with a better education and brighter prospects.
Over a 2 year period about $4000 was raised from donations from supporters who had seen the film. These funds were shared amongst Lobsang, Dolma, Jamyang and their friends to help with their immediate needs like clothing, personal items and travel expenses.
The filmmakers visited the TPV Suja School in March 2009 and met with students to hear about their progress and to share the donations. Click here to watch a video of life at the TPV Suja School
Lobsang Choenden is currently seeking refugee status in Europe.
We have decided to close the Fund now and suggest that if you wish to donate funds to Tibetan refugees like Dolma and Jamyang please contact your local Tibet Support Group.
The Kelsang Namtso Fund will support and assist the young Tibetan Refugees in concrete, practical ways that will empower them with a better education and brighter prospects.
The immediate needs include school books, clothing and personal items. Subsequently we will be allocating funds for new up-to-date computers, comprehensive English classes and travel when needed.
The filmmakers will be visiting the TPV Suja School in March 2009 to meet with the students and map out how to best help meet their ongoing educational needs. Click here to watch a video of life at the TPV Suja School
We would also like to erect a small stupa in Kelsang's honour. The location of this is yet to be determined.
